Meet Leslie Theys
Hello! As a studio owner and instructor, I am delighted that you are exploring this site. I have been teaching the art of scrapbooking for 27 years and thoroughly enjoy sharing this fun, relaxing craft. As a wife, mother of five adult children, and grandmother, I value the importance of preserving the important moments of life. I have not only created albums for my own family, but also cherished the privilege of helping countless others document their memories as a Creative Memories advisor for almost 30 years.
By opening this studio, I hope to encourage and inspire more people to take their photos beyond digital storage and turn them into something more tangible and meaningful. I want to help people get photos off their phones and put them to better use. Everyone has important photos that deserve to be showcased. Everyone has a story worth telling!
I believe that scrapbooking is more than just a craft—it’s a way to preserve history, celebrate milestones, and create something that can be passed down for generations.

About Scrap Paper Scissors Studio
Scrap, Paper, Scissors Studio offers a variety of classes designed for both beginners and experienced scrapbookers. Monthly, themed workshops, card-making classes, and open crafting sessions provide opportunities for the community to learn new techniques and refine their skills.
Leslie first started her business in a small office, but quickly realized the need for a larger, more inviting space. The new location is designed with creativity in mind, with every detail from lighting to furniture chosen to enhance comfort and efficiency while creating beautiful scrapbooking projects.
Beyond the Banner Elk storefront, which opened in March 2025, Leslie also hosts scrapbooking retreats in Blowing Rock, where attendees can immerse themselves in crafting while building friendships. Her goal is to introduce the joy of scrapbooking to those who have never tried it and to show them how rewarding it can be.
